Commodore failed because they moved too fast and broke things. Intel licensed out X86 and made PCI that allowed others to work without friction, side-by-side, and eventually the inertia killed everything else (validated by Albert Charpentier here). Today all bottlenecks (PCI/RAM/Disk/Ethernet) have fossilized, so begins the era of the 1000 hour computer (lightbulb). The real shame is how we did not leverage the early home computers and instead removed the keyboard from so many devices. The home computer and

The "first" transistor gaming machine and the "final". Let's compare these: 1982 vs. 2020, 320x200 vs. 720x720, colors 4 vs. 18 -bit, s-video vs. DPI, 15W vs. 5W, 50Hz vs. 60Hz, 2D vs. 3D, Mono vs. Stereo, RxTx vs. Eth. As much as I like this creation, nothing has really improved much since the 80s, except maybe haircuts! Edit: the HyperPixel is out.

These are all 3 LCD technologies we have invented so far: TN, PVA and IPS. Also 3 most used hard/soft -ware 8µm C64, 14nm X86/WIN and 40nm ARM/LIN. 3 orders of magnitude. Birth and peak of transistor personal computers.

Your software needs to allow for parallelism everywhere. A total of 24x ARMv7 cores is more powerful and secure than 4x X86 cores per watt/$.
Edit: soon coming with Raspberry 2 and heatsinked 4 interleaved for maximum longevity, power efficiency and operations per joule mixed!

Hard things are only as valuable as how easy they become. Here is the ultimate RR-Net single file .prg collection! Also Nunchuk64 is a must to get Nintendo Mini/Classic I2C gamepads to work on the C64!
